Jones Middle School Library is partnering with Boone County Public Library for all students to receive a FREE BCPL digital library card (SDAC). This will allow students to access all of Boone County Public Library's digital services and will expire upon the student's graduation from high school. Physical collection items can not be accessed using the SDAC card. Your child will receive their SDAC information at school. You need not do anything for them to receive this digital library card. However, if you Do Not want your child to receive access you will need to fill out the Opt Out letter attached. These letters will be available to sign at Readifest on Aug. 13 from 4-7pm. If you Opt Out the form needs to be return to the school librarian no later than Friday, August 28th.
Yearbooks will be available for pickup during Readifest on August 13, 2026, from 4-7PM in the gym. If you did not get a chance to pre-order, we do have some extras. The cost is $35. You can pay with cash or check made payable to Jones Middle School - earmarked yearbook.
Also, Boone County Public Library will have their book van at Readifest from 4-6:30 - get a free great read and find out all the wonderful events happening at BCPL!

The Jones fall athletic season is here!
All 6th-8th grade girls interested in playing volleyball at Jones may tryout on Mon and Tues (August 10 and 11). Tryouts begin at 3pm in the Jones gym. A KHSAA medical physical and parental consent form must be completed before tryouts. Athletes are expected to attend both days to be eligible to join the team. Trying out does not guarantee a roster spot. Forms can be found in the main office or use your smartphone to scan the QR code on the flyer. Good luck and Go Jets!

It's not to late to order the 2025-2026 Yearbook!! Deadline to order is June 26, 2026. Yearbooks are $36 with an option to add hardcover, names, and icon for additional costs. The yearbook will be available to pick up late August or early September. This year's 8th graders will receive an email letting them know they can be picked up at Jones or we can ship them to the high school they are attending. We are finishing up the final pages now which will include the 8th grade walk and dinner/dance. This year every student at Jones checked out a book for our Stop, Drop, and Read days. We love that our students are expanding their vocabulary, broadening their perspectives, and learning to love all that comes with reading great titles. There are some students that still have library books out. Please check with your child, if you come across a Jones Library book you may drop it off any time during the summer to the front office. We will have a book cart there to collect any that you find. Thanks for a great school year and we hope that you enjoy great reads over the summer!
YMCA Summer Program: June 8 -19th. 8AM - 2PM, Monday - Friday (10 days total) Space is limited. This is a free, hands on program. Transportation, breakfast and lunch will be provided. Free fieldtrips on Fridays. Email Ms. Rex at jrex@myy.org for questions and applications.
We are excited to celebrate our 8th grade students and their accomplishments! This year, we are continuing our Promotion celebration, while also introducing some new traditions inspired by student voice. We worked closely with our students to learn what they hoped to experience during this special evening, and we are thrilled to share the plans with you.
Promotion Walk — May 28, 2026
We will host a Promotion Walk starting at 5pm on May 28, with staggered times based on last name so that we do not need to limit attendance. During this time, families will tour the halls, revisit favorite classrooms, and celebrate memories with staff along the way.
The walk will conclude in the gym, where each student will be presented with their Certificate of Promotion. A photo opportunity will be available for families to capture this important milestone.
8th Grade Dinner Dance @ 7:00 PM on May 28, 2026
After all students have received their certificates, we will begin the 8th Grade Dinner Dance at 7:00 PM. Students shared that they would like the attire to be dressy, though formal wear is not required. The students also requested that T-shirts and pajama pants not be worn for this event.
Dinner Dance Tickets
Admission tickets for the dance are $20 and must be purchased in advance at school. Attendance is limited to Jones 8th grade students only, and students must have no suspensions as of May 1 in order to attend.
We are incredibly proud of our 8th graders and look forward to celebrating this milestone together. Thank you for partnering with us to make this a memorable and meaningful evening for our students and families.

Spring Picture Day will be on Monday, April 13th. This is the day we return from Spring Break. Students will have their pictures taken during their social studies classes. All pictures will be taken in the library. See school website to order - flyers will go on Thursday of this week.
